Movies

  • Dead Poets Society(1989): This film is a great example of a parent whose control issues permanently interfere with his child and how that affects his son’s well-being.
  • Facing the Giants (2006): This movie gives a powerful portrayal of fathers who truly believe their kids when no one else might.
  • Ordinary People (1980): Pay attention to the pain of the mother’s emotional wall and how it wounds and damages her son.
  • The Sound of Music (1965): Watch this classic form of parenting perspective. Notice how the children are fearful of their father and how he is fearful of feeling for them. The nanny allows the children to blossom by allowing them to become children once again.
  • What a Girl Wants (2003): View this movie from the perspective of how important a father’s acceptance of a child is to the confidence of that child.
